Bourbon Brûlée Pumpkin Pie Recipe

A delightful twist on the classic pumpkin pie with a rich bourbon flavor and a brûlée topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pie crust
  • 2 cups pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the pie crust and place it in a pie dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk the pumpkin puree, heavy cream, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, bourbon, vanilla extract, and spices until smooth.
  4. Pour the pumpkin mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 45 minutes or until the filling is set.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool.
  7. Before serving, sprinkle the top with granulated sugar and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until golden brown.

Notes

  • For a stronger bourbon flavor, add more bourbon to the filling.
  • Allow the pie to cool before brûléeing the top to prevent it from becoming too runny.
