  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, and egg. Add to dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread cream cheese and sprinkle the brown sugar and ground cinnamon evenly on top.
  7. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into equal slices.
  8. Place slices on a greased baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  10. Allow to cool before drizzling with icing.
