French Onion Orzo Bake

A warm and comforting dish combining the flavors of French onion soup with orzo pasta and turkey bacon.

  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 4 slices turkey bacon
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the turkey bacon in a skillet until crispy, then remove and crumble.
  3. In the same skillet, add olive oil and onions, cooking until caramelized.
  4. Add the orzo, chicken broth, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish, top with crumbled bacon and Gruyère cheese.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.

Notes

  • This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
  • Feel free to substitute with regular bacon or other cheeses if desired.
