Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let cool completely before frosting.
  9. For the frosting, whisk the powdered sugar with a bit of water until smooth and spreadable, then spread over the cooled brownies.
